Senior Year Sucks!

I used to be motivated to attending the Ivys and whatnot, but the first day of school, I already had around 5-7 hours of homework(4 APs)... I'm just sick and tired of this work and if going to a prestigious university means even more work, I don't know how I am going to survive... I mean I have 5 hours of hw combined with EC's and I barely have time to sleep. Any of you guys feel the same? I know im on the final stretch, but, I am just tired of a life of studying... I want to just get a job already and have a family. lol!

HOw do you guys deal with lost motivation?

Learn to prioritize. You don’t have to do all your homework, lol

^ true. and junior year sucks more!

Don’t stop working now, you’re on the final stretch and you don’t want to have early senioritis keep you from getting into our top school choices. If you have five hours of homework (like how is that even possible?) per night, I would suggest doing it ridiculously quickly (at least the less important assignments). Also, you may want to start trying to get some of it done in school, I know a lot of people who manage that very well and come home with under an hour of homework each night. Good Luck!

I can almost guarantee that you are either exaggerating or this “homework” you speak of is actually the summer reading you were supposed to do over the summer.

You’re exaggerating, but the first week or so is rough since you don’t yet know what you can blow off, and you don’t know your teachers yet.

Once you get in the groove, things go pretty smoothly.

I’ve had homework already and tests over summer work. Last night after ECs I put in 3 hours hw and called it a night.

This is why I tell everyone NOT to take a bunch of APs their senior year. The stress and lack of social life isn’t worth it.

^seconded.

Why does everyone assume he/she is exaggerating? I’ve had 3-5 hours of homework a night since freshman year.
I’m in the same situation. My ECs and job demand even more time. I work on my homework during homeroom, right when I get home, and I live on coffee. Try to make sure there’s one day a week where you can get 10 hours of sleep so you don’t pass out in class.

^cool story

Time management, like doing your hw at school. I’ve never spent more than 15 minutes at home doing hw, ever. Of course, it’s not like I go to an amazingly competitive/hardcore private school either.

This is called “stumbling on the homestretch.”

Or not running through the finish line

Trust me guys… I am definitely not exaggerating. All my AP teachers decided to assign homework the first day…

Today is the end of the week, I’ve had 3 Quizzes, 2 Tests, and a Lab Report (time consuming) due. I can not imagine what is up ahead.

Anyone who thinks this guy is being hyperbolic obviously doesn’t understand the inner workings of the ineffective school system.

It’s the first week of my senior year and I’ve had 3-5 hours of homework each day. That’s not including the amount of time I had to spend studying for the four quizzes during the first week of school! This much homework is actually counterproductive.

Because I’m typing on my iPhone, I don’t feel like explaining why the school system is ineffective or why 3-5 hours of homework is counterproductive. Hopefully someone will expand upon my post.

You seem to take your homework too seriously.

^ but how can you not take it seriously? what can we do to make it less stressful?

^Pay attention in class.

You’ll find out which homework needs to be done because teachers check/collect it all the time, and which doesn’t because teachers don’t check it. There’s always some teachers who don’t check certain things. I got out of half my Biology work-load freshman year that way.

And homework doesn’t always have to be perfect. It’s for learning. Now reports and tests are different.

I think that we, and i’m speaking for most of us here, procrastinate too much.
I know this guy who’s taking 6 APs and he finishes all his homework and goes to bed at 9pm every single night. And he’s definitely in the top 2% of our class (of 3000 students).

Eat some ice cream, find some good music, take a nap, and start over.
