is this looked down upon

Is going to an online school for high school looked down on during college admissions?

not at all. it is actually unique and might help you (but not much)

thanks for such a fast reply :)

That depends. Is it accredited?

Colleges will probably look very closely at your test scores (SAT 1 and 2, APs, etc) to see how well you have mastered the high school curriculum.

i don't know if it's accredited, it's just offered by my school

I have never heard of this, but it sounds like home schooling. Colleges don't look down on home schooling, but they do have slightly different procedures/requirements for admissions. I would look into that for the colleges that you are interested in.

At my school, we have a very similar thing: it is called VHS (Virtual High School), and is offered to students when they want to take a class that they can't take for whatever reason. I am almost positive it is accredited, and the grades just go on your report card like a regular class. The only difference is that you take it online. If you are taking all of your classes online, I would say it would be a unique case and you would need to make sure to have high test scores and explanations about it, etc, but if you just take a couple classes on it and the rest in a classroom at your high school it isn't a big deal. It is just like going to take classes at a local community college--not a big deal, but pretty cool.

yeah, i think it's called VHS at my high school too and thanks for the replies

is it just one class like this? I think it will be looked upon as going above and beyond.

no it's all my classes

Yeah, It's fine, I mean people are home schooled right? Still, some schools might want extra Sat2's so you might want to check on that. Also, your sat/act and sat2s will count for more. Dont worry about it too much, colleges like to see us succeed from our backround and our...(dang whats the word im looking for?!?)-what we had offered to us.

circumstances?

just wondering....why are you taking all VHS classes? Are you studying courses beyond the level of the teachers in your school? Or were you just interested in taking online courses?
