For my senior year, im expecting to get a 3.67 (uw):

AP Lit: A
AP bio: B
AP Calc: A
AP Civics: A
Spanish: B
AP Comp Gov: A

Do you think this is still very good for Columbia? I know of not many people are taking as many APs as I am. I would say my GPA in regards to the difficulty of my classes is higher than most other people. I know of two valedictorians who are receiving 3.67's this semester, even with less APs.

I want to know how this compares to other Columbia applicants with the same amount of workload as I have (5 APs)? Im also taking two classes at the community colleges right now. I hope this will help me.

I do have a life ilovecalifornia, and please dont get so impolite towards me. Im sorry if I have offended you in anyway, but this semesters GPA can determine if I do get into COlumbia or not because my GPA is lower than the average at Columbia. I am just asking because I want to know how I compare to others.

i sympathize w/ you- aszx
i'm in a similar situation- i have crappy sophomore year grades, but i really pulled it up my junior year
so this semester can either make or break me
but columbia 2002's right- it also depends on how you've done int he past
i love cali- that's just so rude
people on these threads actually want to go these schools, and everything counts
if you want to go to a cc- that's fine, but really- don't trivialize our worries here

your right. i'm just really different from the people on these forums. of course we are all educated/intelligent human beings (for the most part) but we all have different goals and family backgrounds and expectations for ourselves. i'm sorry if i have been rude. I'll try to be more positive and constructive from now on lol as sarcastic as this apology may seem. I'm dead serious = )

Asz, I understand why you are nervous about your first semester grades. Colleges like to see continued scholarship into senior year because many students mysteriously develop "Senioritis." I'm hoping my good Midyear Report will overturn my EASC deferral.

seriously, im the one who should really be worried about my gpa. I had a 3.9 through freshman and sophomore year but then i took all of my classes except band the last two years at a local college. Im going to graduate from high school with a degree, but it has really taken a toll on my high school gpa. I took the hardest math and science classes the college has (im actually typing this on break from my calc 4 class), and my high school will not weight them, though they do weight the grades from AP classes at the high school, which i can say from experience are not half as challenging as the actual college courses. So now i have a 3.6 uw gpa and i really dont have high hopes for my chances at any of my top choices.
