Is this plagiarism?

Hey all,

I recently heard a speech from a speaker at leadership camp, with the basic outline being how he was inspired by a former class president to be a good leader and how he used to be a jerk but he learned to love.

This speech spoke out to me because I am now school president, and I was kind of an annoying loser 2 years ago as well, until a former class president inspired me with her kindness and dedication to servant leadership. This person truly inspired me, and I wanted to write about her for my Personal Statement. The essay is completely my own with barely direct quoting from the speaker at leadership camp, except for some inspirational quotes that he gave me (which I gave credit for in my essay). The ideas and progression are very similar though, as is essay structure. The only difference is that it comes from my own true life experiences and the events are different from his.

Would this be considered plagiarism for an AdCom? For what it's worth, the speech isn't online or televised.

BOTTOM LINE: I checked my essay on a variety of plagiarism checkers, and nothing turned up. I'm worried about the similarity in ideas though, even though I can assure you I genuinely poured my heart out into what I wrote.

It doesn’t sound like plagiarism, but I do suggest that you use different quotes than the speaker used. There probably are many other appropriate quotes that you could use.

hey…i think may be you have to change you expression to make a difference with others
