So... I was rejected from CAS and accepted into LSP but I really want to go to CAS and not LSP. Is it possible to appeal to NYU and ask them to reconsider me for CAS? My grades have gone of significantly senior year which NYU was not able to see since i applied ED1 and my SAT has also gone up and I am on par or even higher than the CAS average.

Unfortunately no, unless you reapply next year, but my view on it is orangeflamigos is you will still be in CAS your last two years. All you are doing is taking your general courses your first two years (which is called LSP) and taking degree related classes in CAS your last two years.

I’ve also heard that LSP classes have much smaller classes and generally allow a higher GPA. It’s not true in every case; however, lots of LSP students come their junior year have a higher GPA than their CAS counterparts.

If NYU is your first choice, I wouldn’t let doing general classes your first two years cause you to not go. You still get a degree from CAS, you still get your degree on-time, and I just see benefits across the board :). In addition, you’re not in separate housing either (unless you go to a global academic center your first year - then you’ll be in London, Florence, etc.) so it’s not like you’re segregated from the rest of NYU students and have less of a chance at success.

You’ll get to CAS eventually! LSP shouldn’t really exist for several reasons, but it does and there’s nothing you can do about getting into CAS at this point, if NYU is your dream school and you can afford it, then you should definitely just suck it up and do the 2 years of LSP. I know one girl who managed to complete the requirements in 1.5 so it might not even be 2. It’s not that bad, really.

And your GPA will be higher! LSP classes are allegedly really easy.

Like nyujunior said, just do your 2 years at LSP and move forward from there. Use the school as a launching pad. You should always take advantage of the opportunities you have been given.
