Do you have to take an art class to go to UCLA? Or can I be eligible by Examination Alone? Because I have never taken an art class, but I my test scores are high enough.

Yea unfortunately it’s required to fulfill their A-G course requirements before you’re allowed to enroll in any UCs. Just take an art class over the summer at a community college and you should be fine. Most of the art courses are fun (like pottery, music, visual graphics, etc).

What if I’m Eligible by Examination Alone?

Would I still need to take an art class?

If you’re eligible by examination alone then you do not need an art class.

On my UC app i reported that i did not take any arts class ever in high school. I still got admitted in UCLA…so i dont think it matters much if the rest are good enough.

^Hmmm… That’s odd. WEll I wouldn’t bank on that happening to everyone because the requirements of A-G are spelled out clearly.
I think I read somewhere however that some of the requirements will be toned down for future applicants to increase the number of eligible people.

thanks for the responses!

the art requirement can be fulfilled by music and drama as well, i believe.
