Is this reasonable?

Hey guys, it’s part two of my group project drama, heh :expressionless:
for those of you who saw my other thread about editing group mates work - this is a separate issue (this not related to the same group mate)

One group mate has not done their work for our project that is due tomorrow. I did their part (in a separate doc) just in case he forgot to do it. My teacher told me that I need to bring her the “outline” (which is basically just the presentation, verbatim) before class tomorrow so she can make copies for the class.

But I can’t finish the outline b/c he hasn’t finished his part!

It’s 11pm now, and I don’t feel like I should have any obligation to stay up all night waiting to see if he’ll do it or not. I want to just copy and paste my stuff, finish the outline, print it out, and give it to my teacher before class tomorrow.

At the same time, I don’t want him to blame me for not being able to complete his part. If I do what I planned to do, then I would also have to cut off his access to the Google Slides to prevent him from altering it (I’d have to cut off his access b/c then the outline and the presentation would be different, which they shouldn’t be). If he goes to the presentation, he would see that his access was cut off and he could blame me for this.

Ok, main question: How much more time should I give a group member to do their part before I step in? We were assigned this thing about a week ago, so he had time - now I’m getting impatient :expressionless:

*edit: to clarify, I’m not mad about “doing his part” it’s just that I don’t know how much more time I should give him.

Why don’t you contact him? If you don’t have his number, this is always where Facebook chat can come in handy. I would probably just do his part haha. The teacher is going to be angry if it’s not completed tomorrow because you’ve had a week to do it and the main part of group projects is collaboration and communication. You can always tell the teacher that one person didn’t participate at all, or you can have the guy present it to the class, or you can give him a bad peer evaluation. I guess bottom-line is I would finish the project and write a note on the google doc saying “I finished the project bc it’s due tomorrow.” You don’t necessarily have to take him off of it.

@RKD89023‌ Sorry - it seems I didn’t mention that I tried to contact him several times over the weekend. No response from him whatsoever. The other group mates can’t get in contact with him either - so it’s not like we didn’t try. We tried email, Facebook, text, even freaking Twitter :expressionless: Nothing worked.

And when I said I’d restrict his access, I mean that I’d put him on “view only” or “comment only” - just so he can’t go back and alter anything.

I like your idea of just leaving a comment on the slides - I’ll think I’ll do that. Thanks!
