Is this SAT score enough for ivies?

I am an international student..
I really would like to apply to top schools..( such as ivy league schools..)

and I got 2250 this october ( CR 780, Math 800, Writing 670)

my essay subscore is 7...it's really bad...

do you guys think that I have to take the SAT again?

or just leave it?

( ah, I have a low GPA.. it's below 3.7...sigh...)

please give me good advices!! please!!!

ur CR+math= 1570/1600 which is excellent. Provided u have unusual talents, solid ECs, GPA and good recs, ull get in...ur writing score is a bit low but its not given a lot of weightage. good luck

actually, many top schools are starting to consider writing for class of 2011 and beyond....so at the very minimum, writing should at least be 700, and to be safe, at least around 750 or so.....

that 1580 (cr + math) looks great, but writing needs to be better

your low gpa makes it even more necessary to increase your writing and get a better score on the SAT

although your gpa is low, how's your rank (if you know)?

You are being ridiculous. Those scores are high enough to be considered for any ivy. Your scores put you into consideration. Most of the applicants to the ivy league schools have competitive scores. Yes, some will have higher, but yours are competitive. The reality is that once an applicant has scores in the range that the colleges post, the scores become non important. That is where admission officers look at the things the applicants does and whether they stand out in the pool and what they have to bring to the school community and whether they have shown evidence of leadership, passion, ect. Yes, there are many who post on cc who have near perfect SAT scores and have gotten accepted. Usually they have other things that make them sufficiently interesting to stand out from the thousands of applicants who have similarly high SAT scores and grades - BUT there are a large number of applicants who are accepted to the ivies including HYP who have competitive SAT scores but not spectacular but who are actually more compelling candidates than those with perfect or near perfect SAT scores.
The question you should be asking yourself is not whether your SAT scores are competitive enough for the ivies, but whether or not your extra curriculars and the other parts of your application will make you stand out.

Just a random thought, wouldn't they be a little more lenient on the writing score considering the person is an international student?

Internationals have it tough as it is. I doubt there is leniency.
