Is this too weird an essay?

For Uchicago, I want to write this essay:
Tell us about the relationship between you and your arch-nemesis (either real or imagined).

Since I dont have an actual enemy, I decided to write an essay where I am my own enemy where I keep myself from being the person i want to be in life.

Is that a weird thing to do because I dont want to come off as crazy or anything!

I think that is actually a brilliant essay! It reflects deep critical thought and maturity, showing that you do not blame others or make excuses for your own mistakes (I wrote about how artichoke is my archnemesis - yours is better :)

Creative for sure. Now, make it funny and insightful and not dark and philosophical. Keep in mind that the adcom will probably be reading hundreds if not thousands of student’s vent about their enemy. Most of these tends to be dark and hateful. Make yours light and funny but measured and you will really stand out.

Oh, the artichoke is a good one too. So much work for so so little bit of food!

Thanks for the feedback guys!
I was soo nervous that my idea will be too out there but now I want to stick with my idea :)

Sounds neat!

After reading the UChicago EA thread for so long while waiting for my decision, I can tell you that many many people did this.

I think thats a good idea but i agree with the previous poster, a lot of people used the same concept

Yeah, I did something similar (laziness/procrastination). It was probably way overdone (I got deferred)

well that stinks!! =(
Now I just gotta cross my fingers and hope for the best

I agree that it’s a rather cliche idea. However, so are [most] other ideas that students come up with. What matters most is execution, as opposed to creativity.
