Is this true about Duke?

<p>I'd heard before coming here that the social scene was dominated by Greeks. It's really not true. They throw a lot of the parties just because they have the means to, but all fraternity parties are open to everyone, which in fact de-emphasizes the Greek aspect.</p>

<p>Also, remember that Greeks aren't inherently different from non-Greeks. Many of your friends from freshman year will undoubtedly pledge, but you'll continue to be friends with them. And some of those people may well work harder and drink less than you (I know at least a couple of people in frats who don't drink), so you don't have to worry about some sort of monolithic "Greek life" from which you'll be excluded. :)</p>

<p>My interviewer said that he joined a frat while he was at Duke, but spent more time with some of his friends who weren't in the frat..</p>
