A couple posters on other forums are trying to convince me that the social scene at Duke absolutely sucks. I didn't believe them-- especially after visiting Duke and seeing K-ville. I haven't heard much from Duke students on the matter. Anyone (read: Duke students) willing to pitch in their two cents?

are those posters UNC fans?

UVa students

First of all, Kville is comprised of a nerdier segment of the Duke population. Most of these kids you will never see at a good party or out for any other reason except to live in their little tents. The rest of the social scene is governed by the fraternities and several of the sports teams (soccer, lacrosse, track). As for females, the "top" social groups are the sororities Pi Phi, TriDelt, Kappa and Theta. How you see the social scene really depends on where you come from. If you are from a small town, it might seem pretty intense, if you are from a big city, you might see the social scene as more dismal.

I've spent a few weekends at UVa, and it is very similar to Duke socially, except with more going on because ... UVa is a larger school. There is a place for everyone here, just like there is a place for everyone at UVa. If the poster was Cavalier302 just ignore him, he is a good friend of mine -- but he has never been to Duke and is bitter because Duke waitlisted him.

bitter? lol.
