I have a complicated problem but to be simple, I am thinking to quit my current school and get into community college, and prepare for transfer (UC is my goal but im also thinking about CSU).
So my question is, is 2 year enough for preparing for transfer?
Ive just searched about various things about transferring, and I realize that I have to take a lot of prerequisite courses.
I definitely need to take all those required courses because I am currently attending to Art school (and the major that I want to transfer is not even related to art…) so only courses that I have taken are art-related courses.
Will it take more than 2 years if I want to apply for numerous schools? Or will it be enough?
60 units. All you gotta do, plus whatever pre requisites for your major. Go to assist.org if you want to see the specifics.
I would say no, two years is likely not enough for igetc and major prep.
Will it be still hard if I take summer courses? I really don’t want to spend more than 2 years cuz I already spent a year in my current school…
Yeah I looked over that website, but still- I am wondering that will 2 years in cc be enough for preparation? Or will it be tough??
Any classes taken at your current college should transfer. You’d need to meet with a counselor at the community college and have them help you map out a plan and see what you’ve already taken and how it will count toward igetc and major prep.
If you’re going from CC to CSU/UC it should only be 2 years AS LONG AS you’re getting all the classes needed. So always make sure to register as soon as you can, those ____ 101 classes fill up fast.
Most colleges take 4 years of completion and sometimes 5 if your classes don’t transfer.
You need to speak to a guidance counselor at the CC you hope to attend.
Not all classes transfer. If you were/are at an Art School, I suspect some of your classes will not cover the GE requirements at most schools.
If you plan to go to a CSU, it will take you, at least a combination of 4-5 years. Some classes are only offered once a year. Some classes may not fit your time schedule. Some classes may have 300 students.
Speak to a counselor and bring a copy of your transcript so that you can map out your courses for the next couple of years. You can’t just guess and say, “Well I’ve been here for 4 years, it’s time to graduate.” Doesn’t work that way.
