I've been accepted to csu east bay as an incoming freshman, but I'm not satisfied because I wanted to go to UCSD for computer science. The thing is, is it better to go to csu east bay and most likely transfer or go to community college. Is it still possible to transfer in two years as a full time student even with budget cuts, a lot of students, and not enough classes? How is the transition from cc to a UC? Is there anything else you guys think I should consider?

Or should I just go to csu east bay and graduate from there to save money and time?

If you wanna go to a UC, go to a community college. Relativity few 4 year transfers are admitted to UCs. Most are from community colleges. They have priority and course articulation agreements. In fact you can guaranteed admission to a UC campus if you maintain 3.2 GPA or higher. Getting classes can be hard, but going to a CC usually pays off in the end.

I heard it takes 3-4 years to fulfill the required classes and transfer now because crowded classes and being unable to get the classes you need, any experiences or any truth to it?

Well it really depends. At my ccc if you go see the counselor about transferring and set up a plan of courses to take, you’ll automatically be moved to priority enrollment so like first or second day for enrolling. I was able to get all the classes I need as a comp sci major. So it is possible to finish everything in 2 years.

It usually takes 2-3 years if you make a plan and stay on course without slacking. Try to get priority enrollment if you can.

If you’re really set on UCSD, go to community college.

Pick your community college and than the CSE major [ASSIST Prompt Page](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

it looks like you just need the compsci series, lots of math, and 2 other sciences + finishing your IGETC (optional but highly recommended). If you start in the summer with some GE classes, you’ll have better registration priority in the fall for the science/math/compsci classes, and you might be able to finish in 2 years.

^^ choose CS not CSE. CS requires less pre-reqs than CSE and if you’re set on CS at UCSD no point in taking more hard classes than you need to because UCSD admits by campus and not major so finishing pre-reqs and getting a bump in GpA from GE classes will really help your chances
