i got admitted to ucsc and i am currently stuck between it and sdsu. im pretty worried that the other students will not be like me because of all the stereotypes ive heard. i dont make friends with hipsters...i just cant

im pretty much a straight up jock/bro. i work out all the time and im really into sports mostly football and basketball. i like to party really hard and love that whole scene at ucsb. pretty bummed that i didnt get into there. all the girls i have went for are the typical so cal girls from my area who are athletic and have nice bodies.

not into drugs. ill smoke the occasional joint but i dont like it thrust upon me and surrounded by it.

thanks if you respond

Hey man, I went to UCSC for the first two years of my undergrad and then transferred out. Looking back, those two-years were wonderful. I was the same way. I played basketball in high school and really wasn’t interested in the “hipster” scene, I just wanted to get out and Santa Cruz was the only UC that accepted me. I played intramural basketball every quarter and thats how I made a lot of my friends. Also, there is a roommate question sheet that is ridiculously accurate, me and my roommate still kick it. In short, you make it the way you want. It isn’t super hipster.

I really think SDSU’s a better match for you. I used to live in that town and it’s really your type of scene. It’s close to sporting events, there are plenty of gyms, lively beach activities. State is trying to distance themselves from their party reputation, but don’t mind them; it’s still there.
