Hi guys.
I’m from Michigan, and I recently decided that business was the best major for me!! My problem is that my ECs are NOT business related… at all… except for my job at a local store.
I’m strong at math, have awards/ a passion for music, leadership, and an idea of how I can tie my HS experiences to my future plans in business. I’m also instate—which should hopefully increase my admissions chances?!?!
I know it’s low. People called me an idiot on a2c for even thinking about applying to business schools without business ecs.
Without further ado…
Demographics:
White girl, suburban Michigan
**Intended Major(s): business, but plan to maybe minor in music or math
ACT/SAT/SAT II:
1470 on my PSAT (index score should safely qualify me for national merit based off of historical data)
I haven’t taken the ACT, but I’ve been getting 34-35 on practice tests.
UW/W GPA and Rank:
4.0 unweighted (mainly A+). Not revealing weighted since my school’s weird system might dox me.
My school doesn’t rank, but I’d imagine that I’m pretty close to the top.
Coursework: AP/IB/Dual Enrollment classes, AP/IB scores, etc
Mainly honors freshman year.
APUSH and Calc BC sophomore year (5 on both); mainly honors classes
Calc 3 (got an A!) and Differential Equations dual enrollment junior year, along w/ 4 APs
4 APs senior year + one business course
Band and a language all 4 years

- freshman and sophomore year only: super competitive club cheer team. It was very expensive, and made it hard for me to participate in other extracurriculars.
I’ve been told that I’m a very strong writer, but I’m not sure what I plan to do for essays quite yet. I definitely have an idea of how to tie my music/math/leadership experiences to my future business plans
I have an idea of who to ask for one LOR (teacher and club advisor who likes me a lot), but I have NO CLUE who to ask for a STEM rec!! I don’t think my dual enrollment prof knows me well enough, and my pre-calc and ap calc teacher (same lady for both) switched schools.
So yeah. Am I too “standard strong” for Ross? I think yes… lol. I haven’t had much of an ability to start a business/nonprofit/internship, and there are restrictions on the business clubs at my school that prevented me from joining.
Let me know what you think!!
