<p>Which grad school / degree are you considering and are you sure that you can keep firm on that decision after just finishing up Freshman year? Things can change a lot in 3 years…</p>
<p>I already did a year at umich, and will come to a top 30 cs grad school.</p>
<p>So you’re talking about a Masters in CS? </p>
<p>I work in the software industry and unless you want to do research type work you’re better off going into the workplace after your BS than spend another year in school - there’s little advantage in a MS in terms of starting salary or even long term growth. Most established companies will even pay for your masters while your work so you can pursue a grad degree later in life if you wish.</p>
<p>I personally think you’re better off working your ass off undergrad and getting a strong internship your junior year…which I think staying in UMich will help with more so than switching to a weaker school.</p>
<p>I think the only way transferring may make sense is if you’re deciding to pursue a graduate degree in something totally different, like a JD.</p>
