The one in Ohio is Miami University the one in Florida is University of Miami. Miamia University is a quality school. I know nothing about the school in Coral Gables.

Post under “college” University of Miami.

Yes, UMiami is a great school doing great things. It is very impressive.
The law school is most known for Tax Law. If your child is just starting undergrad, any school is fine to attend. My own son is at Miami and will be applying to law schools and we see mo problem with having attended Miami.

We have been very pleased with Miami. My son has been in small classes- most about 20 students, his largest was 60. The variety of classes is great, advisement also great. They treat the kids very well and it really is a “family” even the parents feel it. Great place to have a child in school as it is a great and easy place to visit.

feel free to PM me about Miami or to post on the Miami thread and I will find it. You can also read about the school there.

UMiami is highly respected and highly ranked. It has a party school and rich kid reputation, which is largely true, but the programs and professors are top notch. Its the best private school in Florida. Its also in the ACC and has amazing sports.

A tidbit of information most don’t know about. During the early 1960’s, it was used as a staging ground for black ops against Cuba, during the JFK administration, largely for Bay of Pigs and for attempts to assassinate Castro. CIA was prohibited from engaging in domestic activities, but a narrow exception was carved out because of the Cuban refugees in Miami, and the actions were not targeting any Americans or any American installation. Of course, this is purely historical fodder now and nothing is going on from CIA there now.
