Is USC too sports crazy?

Let's get one thing straight, the "craze" that fills the Coliseum on Saturday's is based from history, tradition, and a strive for excellence, not the student body or external influence. You hear it all the time, "LA fans are fairweather" and it's true in comparison to the Ohio States and Oklahomas of this world, but my point lies in that fact. Students go to football games NOT because they are "sports crazed", they go because it's fun.

One of the beautiful things about having a great football team is that it brings an entire school and alumni together to cheer on their university; that is generations of Trojans gathered in one place to root for their team - that to me is special.

Also it's awesome to see a wide array of students that come from different walks of life, many of which have never seen American football in their entire life, suddenly become diehards. Everyone is there to cheer and have a good time, and I really can't see anything negative in that.

Next year I'm flying to Hawaii with my parents, flying to Notre Dame with friends, and driving up to Cal with my roommates. None of this would have been possible without a football team. Those are great memories just waiting to happen, cherish these times. Even if you don't like sports now, give it a shot and I'm sure you'll like it. If you don't like the sports itself, just take in the fact that you are out with your friends.

Hey, afterhours, that's awesome you're going to the Notre Dame game! That's going to be so amazing! That's a goal before I die. :)
