I was accepted to Villanova University earlier this week and in my research for the college I found that the college had a small amount of residence halls and does not allow the majority of the seniors to live on-campus. About half of the first-year students are forced to room in a double with three people. I know that Villanova is a very good regional university according to U.S. News but I am unsure whether visiting the college and possibly attending the college is really worth it. I will be pursuing a major somewhere in the field of chemical engineering or chemistry. In my admissions packet, I also discovered that it is difficult for a student to change their major. Do the pros of Villanova overpower the cons of Villanova?

I am a HS student and I have lived on the Villanova campus for all 17 years of my life. Terrible atmosphere. I would NOT suggest coming here.

I have read that the towns surrounding Villanova do not enjoy the prescence of this university. Is this true?

Education itself is comparable to other top Universities but I heard campus is awful. Go on a visit and decide if you like it or not.

The campus is not awful at all. It is very nice and in an upscale suburban area outside Philadelphia. Good train access into Philly. I have not heard anything negative in terms of the town-gown relations, but there are always a few “issues” when there is a large population of college students. Most seniors (or at least many) don’t live on campus anywhere, by the way. It is expensive, and if you are not sold on it, you should go elsewhere.

Yes, Radnor Township and the university do have very bad relations.

Villanova seems like a nice school - good academics, D-1 sports, and sociable students.
