help!
should religion ever be touched?

No, it should not.

It’s not the topic, it’s what you do with the topic.

^true true

just don’t be ******y

I wrote an essay about athiesm to Stanford and Harvard. It was essentially about how religion is pointless. Accepted Stanford, rejected Harvard (even though I thought the Harvard one was a better essay). Do it with tact if you’re going to do it…but it can be done

Tactfulness is key. I think tolerance is emphasized at every ivy, so if you’re lambasting all forms of religion then that could be a turn-off to admissions counselors, but if you are seriously and tactfully addressing your own personal views, then I think it would be fine.

hmmm okay.
thanks

i think theother posters are confused Atheism is the lack of theistic (god-worshipping) belifes, thats it , Antitheism is the ajection of religion , in both theory and practice. i think a more suitable essay would be on ATHEISTS, like rushdi, hitchens, darwin, lincoln ect. or just atheists in general.

^exactly. i hate when people get anti-theism and atheism confused >.<
I have one girl in my class who asked me if I worshiped Satan be/c i was an “atheist”. sigh
What can I say? :p

umm I changed my topic. Atheism is in there but its not the main focus. I love my essay now.

I agree with the other posters, that like with many things, it all depends on how you handle it.
And I also don’t think they were confused about anti-theism. A topic about atheism could easily turn into an attack on religion.
