Is Yale a good fit for me?

I'm a high school junior currently researching different college options, and after recent visits to both Princeton and Yale, I've come to really love Yale. Based on my interests and pursuits, I was just wondering if any Yalies or college experts could let me know if Yale would be a good fit for me.

I'm most interested in being a history major, perhaps on my way to becoming a historical analyst or a museum archivist. I'm particularly drawn to Renaissance studies, the Tudor dynasty, and the French Revolution (basically any European history). I'm hoping to be an intern at the Smithsonian or any other museum this upcoming summer. I also love music (I've played the violin for 8 years) and writing (I'm the World News editor on my school newspaper). These aren't my only extracurriculars, of course, but they're my main focus.

I'm not going to bother listing all of my AP scores or GPA and class rank, but I believe that my academic achievements are sufficient for Yale. Anyways, do you think Yale would be a good fit for me? Any input is welcome. Thanks!

Yale is a great fit for a lot of people and that is the reason 27,000 people apply.

Only 1900 get in which makes it hard on the other 25000 who are turned down. Irrespective of how great one’s resume is, it is a super reach school with 7% admit rate. So it is best for you have it on your list in addition several other match, safety and reach schools.

History, music and writing/journalism are totally Yale – you’d find lots of opportunities in all three, and lots of talented people with similar interests. But I could say pretty much the same about Princeton. The most important differences between Yale and Princeton have more to do with the culture and feel of each place. If Yale felt right to you, go for it.

texaspg’s point is correct – it’s hard to get in – but you probably know that.
