Hi. I am currently a senior filling out my common application for my college admissions. So like the question asks, is your personal essay or the individual college essays questions more important. I have a very good topic i wish to use that could be used for either but I feel it would be redundant to use it for both. Which do college admissions look at more closely?
Colleges look at both extensively in their “holistic review” process- you can rest assured that both essays are weighted equally in admissions officers minds (although they might potentially spend more time with the common app essay because it is somewhat longer). You should use the topic that best fits the prompt.
You are correct- it would be redundant to use it for both. You should use each supplemental essay to showcase a different thing about yourself.
Personal Statement is the most important essay.
