Is Your State's Legislature Fair to its Colleges?

[Parents Cafe is a more relevant location than where I initially posted it]

Does your state legislature shortchange the state flagship university and/or the other local public colleges in your area? These schools are notoriously $$ deprived by their elected officials while the states demand a high number of seats for residents, making admission for non-resident applicants difficult.

U of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
U of Texas-Austin

The recent NYT article made an important distinction--the schools which are probably really getting shortchanged are the non-flagship, non-research public universities. I work at a public flagship, and while we'll screech about how our percentage of funding that comes from the state is dropping, certainly we know it's even worse for the places which aren't flagships. They don't have the same kinds of alternative revenue sources.
