iSchool Competition

I've heard alot about different schools in Syracuse and how competitive it is to get in, but I haven't heard much about the iSchool.

Does anyone know how it compares to the other schools? Is it easier or harder to get into than others? And maybe if anyone actually has average stats or acceptance rates, that would be great!

Thanks

Hi HopefulForCuse,

Here is a link that can be found on the iSchool webiste,
[iSchool Ranked #5 for Online Programs by U.S. News - iSchool News - iSchool - The School of Information Studies - Syracuse University](http://ischool.syr.edu/newsroom/news.aspx?recid=1569),
it details that the iSchool at Syracuse is ranked 5th for online programs in the country. As you dig deeper into the article, as related to your question, does indeed shed light onto the competitiveness of iSchool. While having a lower acceptance rate than some of the other information technology schools listed, it still boasts a more successful program ranking than higher acceptance rate schools. Sometimes, that acceptance rate does not matter in certain scenarios.

I am currently a Newhouse major who is intending to minor at iSchool. Its an amazingly important industry to study in — that’s where all the money of the future will be - in technology! I like it a lot.

Come if you can,

I’ve seen the iSchool ratings stay high over past several years - watching since my son is a senior in the iSchool and graduates this semester. He started off in CAS for poly sci, then added iSchool for a dual major. The school is much smaller (hundreds, not thousands) than the other SU colleges, and the main building Hinds Hall is very modern inside with different labs and innovation centers. Dean Liddy is super accessible and appears to really engage with “her kids”. From stats, getting a job after graduation is easier than some other schools.

My son was accepted here today. I would be thrilled but this was not a choice of his. What can you tell
me about it?
