Hey guys,
I took the ISEE a couple days ago and received my results, which are a bit strange to me:
Quantitive Reasoning- 99th percentile
Mathematics Achievement- 97th percentile
Verbal Reasoning- 89th percentile
Reading comprehension- 71st percentile
Avg- 89th percentile (All raw scores were over 900)
So the first thing that came to my mind was the drop off between the higher and lower scores. I’ve always been a math and science type of guy, but I was wondering how schools like Andover, Exeter, Choate, Deerfield, St.Paul’s, etc. will assess these scores (I’ve presented myself as more of a STEM and biology-type student in my interviews and essays). Do they prefer a more balanced score report or will my math scores make up for the reading comprehension section?
The test verifies how you have presented yourself. All scores prove that you are capable of doing well at a rigorous school and your math scores support STEM as your particular talent. You don’t have to be great at everything. Academically, you just don’t want to be particularly bad at some thing(s). 71th percentile is by no means bad. You can check the box on having a good admissions test and forget about it.
