My D is applying for Andover and Lawrenceville. As I said earlier she is a strong athlete in multiple sports and has great EC's. She is African American.

Are those scores normed to other ISEE test takers or nationally normed? If they are normed to other ISEE test takers, then they certainly should keep your daughter in the running at her schools.

The scores are against other ISEE test takers. The one she is worried about is Verbal Resoning. The way the ISEE works you just get the indidivdual scores unlike the SSAT when you get an overall as well. She is leaning toward taking the SSAT and then sending those scores instead if the are better. I hate for her to have to take another test if she does not need to, but I guess better safe than sorry. If she doesn't get in - I guess she will always wonder if she should have taken the test?

Her scores are great, but I guess if she were my daughter, I would let her go ahead and take the ssat. If she doesn't get in, it would be a pity for her to believe it was because she didn't take the ssat. I would also encourage her to look at a few more schools but that's me. She has so much going for her, but with 20% acceptance rates, it's so hard to be certain about admission.

Yes, I agree with Burb Parent. I would only add some detail as to the mechanics of how to go about taking the SSAT:

Sign up for the Web Service Bundle for the SSAT but don't predesignate any schools to receive the scores. If the e-mail score report indicates that the scores are worth sharing, then log in to request to forward them to the schools she has applied to (or will apply to). If not, don't add any schools to your list and those schools won't see the SSAT scores.

Taking a second test is a good idea and isn't likely to hurt anything. However, is it fair to say that adcoms realize that each kid has their own areas of strength, and use this as one of the considerations to build school communities? Based on the score distribution, it looks like your D is very strong in math (96/92 sounds to me like amazing scores), which adcoms would note, especially if the school she is applying to has a strong math program/competing math team.

Call the admissions departments of the two schools. If she interviews well, and her recommendations are supportive, I would not obsess about one very respectable subscore on the ISEE. Her reading comprehension score is very high. I think you should only arrange for her to take the SSAT if an admissions officer suggests it.

Thanks so much for the input. I spoke with my D about it and she wants to go ahead and take the test. She doesn't want to feel like she made mistake if she does not get in. We plan to visit Episcopal High School soon and she may be adding that to the schools she plans to apply to.

Thanks for the idea about the web bundle, I will definately be doing that.
