“Would drama be a good extracurricular activity even though I’ve never been involved in it before? It’s one of the only clubs that I could deal with being a member of, because the members are mostly slackers/stoners that I can boss around and who won’t care if I list myself as president. Plus I can’t ever imagine the drama teacher kicking me out no matter what I did. He’s a chill guy.”

I think that even a chill drama teacher would not want you to come in (with no experience) and boss people around. OTOH, I think that drama would be a wonderful EC. It teaches you that talent has its own meritocracy, that every job is important to get the show going, that teamwork need not come from sports. I also think that drama kids are some of the most accepting people in high school, as long as you are willing to do the work. If your performances are decent, I doubt you will think of them all as slackers/stoners for long.

Btw, I found your post refreshing, OP. Good luck brah!

I really hope this is a ■■■■■; otherwise it is the most self-centered, entitled post I have ever read.

I can actually see where this kid is coming. I used to think like this when( and still do sometimes) when I get a little depression, and he’s right about a couple of things. School isn’t even about learning anymore: it’s about teachers teaching the superficial facts that will be on tests and never actually going in depth about everything. At least my french and Human Body Systems actually taught some not in that ****ing book. It makes me kind of sad when school is all about keeping above a certain grade and not about actually enriching the mind. Which is why(when I get older and have children) I will consider homeschooling my children until High school when they can take CC classes.

“Why not add an Ivy look-alike like Georgetown, or Wake Forest, Tufts, Duke, UVA, etc. Those are great schools and I think you will definitely get in with your grades and your SAT score.”

Wow, what did these schools ever do to you to suggest inflicting this kid on them?
