I’m having a great deal of anxiety right now.
I’m 17, in my “senior” year of high school. I’m going to get my GED and I’m going to take both the ACT and SAT.
My problem is that I don’t have a transcript or a GPA. My transcript, if I had one, would be incredibly short. Tl;dr my schooling sucked, and even though I sorta made it out alright and I’ve gotten really good scores on practice tests and etc, I definitely don’t meet the requirements for graduation. I don’t have a GPA. I’m not sure I can really get one. I don’t know what to do. If I apply with just the GED and standardized tests, will I get into any school? Will colleges turn me away? I’m so close to just giving up because I don’t know what I can do.
It’s going to be pretty tough to get admission to any 4-year school if you (or your parent) can’t produce a transcript for you. Most schools aren’t looking for the GED, or if they are, it’s in addition to transcripts and a comprehensive high school record.
Not knowing any details about your situation, is it possible for you to enroll in community college with an eye to transfer to a 4-year college? The requirements there would be minimal–you could even probably start as a dual-enrolled senior in high school, which likely has even less stringent requirements. I know a number of homeschoolers who have gone this route (for different reasons) and it’s worked well for them.
I’m guessing you don’t have a supervising homeschooling parent who can help you with all this stuff?
