Happily, I just submitted the last two (corrected) FAFSAs for my kids, and the last CSS Profile... and I am so glad. I still have the IDOC packet to send and a couple extra forms for my son's college, but I feel like the worst of it is behind me. Four years of it (thankfully my kids' undergrad college years overlapped for all four years) and no more kids behind them. Oh my... what a nice feeling!

To those parents who are in it for the first time and it feels so complicated, it does get a easier after the first year, and then it gets just done once and for all!

congrats! I have MANY years of FAFSAs ahead of me, with my oldest starting college this fall, and my youngest just 9yo I may have a 1 year break in there, depending on the types and lengths of programs my kids choose.

^ Similar boat. Two in college now with a 9 year old, but with a 10 year break between. I’m hoping the system is revised before DS gets to college.

Congratulations on reaching the end! I have 3 more years before I can put up my feet and break out the cocktails - so enjoy that martini for me in the meantime!

Congrats to you! And thanks for all your wisdom here over the years. I hope you’ll still check in here from time to time and share your experience!

Congrats…I think there should be a special designation/token under your screen name! I’m looking forward to being done with my own in 4 more years, although I seem to end up doing/fixing many others as well! Oh well…

That’s a good point, Sk8rmom. I seem to end up helping so many other kids and parents with their financial aid forms… and I don’t expect that will stop just because I’m done with my own kids’. I volunteer at the local high school counseling office, so I get a lot of questions there from students and parents. I enjoy being able to help. It’s not quite as loaded a process, though, when I’m dealing with someone else’s FA apps!
