Has anyone here attended Quaker Days in the past? I was invited to the Multicultural Scholars Program and I have decided to stay for Quaker Days but I am unsure if I should attend the entire program and leave Philly on Wednesday or leave earlier. I do not want to miss too much school and have to make up work, so please comment on the benefit of staying for the whole program. I am thinking of departing from the airport on Tuesday(it’s about a 3-4 hour flight). I could not find any itinerary from previous years for QD, but from what I heard it is a very structured program with little leeway to explore the city.
Would it be worth missing 2 extra days of school?
Hi,
I’m a current student at Penn and would definitely recommend staying the entire weekend! Although the program is rather structured there are many opportunities to interact with current students, other prospective students, and really get a feel of the campus and determine whether you want to spend the next four years here. Due to the structure of the program it may be a bit difficult to branch off to explore the city but if it’s something you’re truly interested in I’m sure you could manage to find the time. Honestly, making up a little work is worth it since it really is a memorable experience.
I was thinking along the same lines and decided it will be worth missing two days, so I will stay until Wednesday. Thank you for your reply!
Should parents stay the entire time too, or is it largely for the students?
My D attended Quaker Days last year, and we only came to pick her up at the end. We wanted it to be her expereience, and her decision.

All of the parents did not stay, but the majority of parents did. Penn did a good job of informing and entertaining parents. Most of the time there were parallel events going on so the little Quakers had some room to figure things our for themselves. My daughter stayed with students, and I stayed at a hotel nearby last year.
What is right for you, depends on how your family functions, but there will definitely be lots of other parents, so don’t be concerned that your parents will be the only ones there, that will not be the case.
