Visiting after being admitted: Ok to go other times than Quaker Days?

If we can’t swing a flight for Quaker Days, do you think it’s still ok to visit later in the month? Or would it be best to try and visit that week?

How do you get from airport to Penn? I visited some years ago in a rental car, but that won’t be an option this time. Do they house and feed students for Quaker Days? And maybe even have transport?

Look at the FAQ page in the Quaker days site. In there it appears the different ways to get to penn from the airport.

Thanks. The bigger issue is finding anything remotely affordable for a flight…

Yes, they will U house, feed and transport students.

Also, Penn is not very far from the airport.

Where do you need to fly in from?

How are people managing to make plans so quickly? Isn’t it costing an arm and a leg? To get my son there on an overnight to arrive Monday morning would be $724. :frowning: We might just have to either come for one day or go at another time.

We’d be flying from So Cal.

I will be flying to south bend, then to Philadelphia, then Boston and then to El Salvador for $950 to finish all my visits.

-Your son could also leave on Tuesday at night since there is no official programming on Wednesday.
Try google flights as well, they have a calendar graph that shows how the prices differ per day and they can alert you if the price of your itinerary drops or something

But at the end he can also visit penn any other day, the only benefit of going to Quaker days is that there are various events and you get to stay overnight

I think it is very inconsiderate of Penn Admissions to schedule quaker days less than 2 weeks after releasing decisions. I can’t even find flights using FF miles on such short notice without using 50,000 miles and paying $80 per ticket instead of the usual 25,000 miles and $0. I assume many prospective students will not be able to attend due to the price of the airfare. This may affect Penn’s precious yield.

Well, I have to confess we were actually able to get Penn to fly my son out since we are lower income. Otherwise, we would not have gone to Quaker Days since the flight is expensive. I really wanted to go to, but not sure I can swing that!

I’m sorry, @Lkjh0987. It’s frustrating, I know.

Can you go later in the month just to visit the school? We were going to do that as we found much cheaper flights later in the month.

The hotel room prices are also higher starting on that Monday. I am thinking of coming in Sunday afternoon and leaving Monday evening. I want to tour the campus with my family and am OK about missing the Tuesday events, because I’d also prefer not missing two days of school. The following week is Yale’s Bulldog Days and I plan to miss another couple of days for that.
