It's deadline day, so let's have a countdown

Rejected.

Siiiigh.

STILL no mail yet :(

Mishka: Hopefully this may cheer you up...we just got my D's packet in the mail today (finally!) and the zipcode was wrong, which slowed it down a lot. Maybe that's the slow down for yours too???

rottedufu..would you mind posting your stats?? no has responded to my chances and I really want to know if I would get in there before I apply

Julia, you have a 0% chance of getting in if you don't apply! Go for it!

Absolutely, Julia! Nobody here can tell you if you will get in or not; but we can all agree that you will not if you do not apply!

go for it, indeed!

i know i didnt mean it like maybe i will apply there if I have a chance..more of a I wanted to see what people's stats were like. I already sumbitted the app, just wanted to see.

gapyearmom - I called them today and they told me I got in!!! :)

mishka - I'm so pleased for you! That's outstanding news!!!! Yay!!!! :) I bet you are so excited...and sooooooo relieved!

rose303 - I just got some really great advice from a quite famous college consultant about what to do if you are deferred and I thought I'd share it. She says to:

First: send back the note or postcard letting the school know you are still interested.

Next: you ought to keep a running list of all your NEW accomplishments/awards/etc between when you did your app and the 1st of Feb.

Next: The first week of Feb type those all up in a one page max, easy to read, bullet point format. State very clearly (once, don't go overboard) that you are still extremely interested in XXX school, and send it via US mail to the Adcom in charge of reading your app.

Next: if you can, get another strong letter of rec. from a teacher (if you think your app may have been weak on the academic side) or someone personally aware of your commitment to your most passionate EC (if you think that was what was weak in the app). Do not send more than one additional letter of rec.

Finally: keep those senior grades up as high as you possibly can and send your interim grades, esp if they are something to brag about.

Do not flood the school with lots of paperwork...keep it all in one packet, and send it the end of the first week of Feb.

Then, relax. You will have done what you can to get yourself off the def/wait list. If it doesn't work out, then you know you will have done your very best and know in your heart, tho it may seem hard to believe at the moment, that somewhere else is a better fit for you and you will thrive no matter where you are.

Thinking about you, and all you other girls on the def/wait list! I'm sending happy acceptance wishes your way..

wow, thanks so much for all the good luck and advice regarding my deferral, I'll definitely have to do a lot of those things. very helpful! :)

and all you girls that got in, congrats again, you are so lucky that you're done with all this!

heyy guys, for everyone who was accepted ED: has anyone gotten anything in the mail or an email since the acceptance letter??

Celloshreder: I haven't gotten anything!

I don't think we're supposed to until the RD people get decisions. At least based on the Facebook pages from past years we shouldn't... I kind of wish they sent confirmation that they got our deposits/ED acceptance agreements.

lucky, I wonder what you guys' stats were? I wanted to apply ED but I was afraid I wouldn't get any financial aid money..grr! My parent's would go broke paying for Barnard. But Congratulations you guys (or should i say girsl) lol!

Thanks, superwoman! As for our stats, some of us filled it out on an old post:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/barnard-college/616838-official-barnard-class-2013-ed-results.html

By the way, I also applied for financial aid, and the estimated package isn't too shabby.

Ooo okay then, hopefully I can join you ladies at Barnard this fall! Good Luck in your endeavors!

To those wishing to get a letter from Barnard acknowledging the deposit and ED acceptance --- if they didn't get yours they would have called you at home last week. They got one but not both in the envelope we sent in and they were great about following up on it. So don't worry if you havent heard. If there's a problem they'll let you know, I think
