It's decision time.

Hi everyone, I'm currently a junior who just visited Johns Hopkins this past weekend. I absolutely love it, and the fact that its Writing Seminars major is one of the best in the country. However, my love for Hopkins brings me to a difficult decision regarding my future.

I have wanted to apply to Columbia ED for years now. This has always been my plan. But - since I am not a total superstar and my SAT is so low, my chances of being admitted to Columbia have decreased even mote over the years. My SAT is embarrassing. It's only a 1910. I know I can get it up to 2000+, but my math score would still only be about a 660. Because of this poor score (I'm aware that it is not actually bad, I'm just saying in the eyes of certain schools), I don't think Columbia is a realistic option anymore. I don't want to waste an ED application only to not get in. I think I will have a better shot at Hopkins.

I'm torn between applying to either JHU or Columbia ED. Both schools have fantastic reputations, and I know I will have a great chance of getting into the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism if I complete my undergrad degree at either university. If anyone can offer some insight into my dilemma, I will be totally grateful. Some stats:
GPA: 96.5 UW, 104.0 W
SAT: 1910 (will take again!!)
Course Load: IB Diploma
ECs: several leadership positions, as well as interesting community service
Essays: I'm going for creative writing. They better be fabulous.
Recs: will be great
Awards: regional awards for writing, as well as a National Gold Medal through the Scholatic Art and Writing Awards

Thanks for your input!(: ignore the "actually" at the end of this message. For some reason, I can't delete it.

actually

Have you talked to admission counselors at the two schools. They can give you an idea of how your application will be viewed. Obviously you need to look at finances. Don’t apply ED to any school that you cannot afford (and don’t make assumptions about the school meeting need).
