Thanks for the advice. I have considered all this before and I’ve considered it again, but I think I will stick with my previous decision as of this moment.

I’m going to be in the class of 2016! I’m a 2011 graduate but I had to take a medical deferral for the year. If anyone needs help with the application, I got in and got STRIDE and would be willing to help. My email is kymgarcia137@g.mail.

I remember you from this last year’s thread!! I’ll PM you now

I just submitted my ED agreement.

I’ve decided to play it safe and go with RD, after all. And congrats, CPU!

applying RD, hopefully theatre or engineering!

Those majors are kind of opposites ends of a spectrum. xD
Just sent in my application and my supplement! Still needs to send my recs and school report along though.

I’m still finishing up my common app essay (teacher is editing), I might scratch it and write a new one.

Larentia – you’re RD right? what made you send in your app early?

My applications are already completed and I don’t want to spend time fretting that I haven’t sent it later on. I would like to use that worrying about scholarships instead. xD

So true!
Well I hope I see you next fall at Smith! I’ll be so relieved when my Smith Application gets in.

The same to you! I am quite relieved myself since I sent in most of my applications.

Lucky!!!

10char ugh lol.

@Larentia:
I do technical theatre, so that’s what I would focus on as a theatre major at Smith, lol. And engineering is not too dissimilar from tech theatre - mechanical engineering is closely related to construction and electrical engineering is closely related to lighting and electrics!

Lol, I did guess you were a person involved with technical theatre although I was unaware that it’s not too different from engineering.

Hi! I’m applying to Smith. Wellesley is my top choice, but Smith is a close second. As in really close. It’s like my 1.5 choice, haha. It’d be great if I get accepted at both. Once I get my acceptance letters my mom and I are going to travel out to MA and visit the colleges. This is really what’s going to determine which one I go to.

Anyone doing an interview for Smith? I’m doing mine this Monday. The alumna who’s interviewing me sounds super enthusiastic, so it should be really fun!

I want to do a double major in English and East Asian Studies (with a focus on Japanese culture). My junior year I want to study abroad. When I graduate I want to get my PhD in English from (fingers crossed!) Harvard. If I’m unable to get accepted at graduate school right away I plan on doing the JET program in Japan. And then, after I get my PhD, I want to be an Ivy League English professor and a published author. I basically have my whole life for the next 10 years planned out, lol! That’s why I love love love that Smith has no core requirements. I have spent the past 4 years of my life having to take courses that were of no interest to me…when I get to college I really want to pursue the things I’m passionate about :D

I’m applying RD to Smith but it’s my first choice, very very closely followed by Hampshire. I’ve visited and it’s beautiful. I adore the women who come out of there! I’m hoping to see you all there and I’d love to talk to you all while we wait. c:

Has anyone who is applying EDI heard from Smith yet? Or, does anyone know the process of notification?

ED1 notifications are this Wed at 6pm via Bannerweb.

UFOninja, I’m sure you’re aware that Wellesley has distribution requirements vs. none for Smith, other than 1/2 your credits in your major and 1/2 in other subjects. Eligibility for Honors is another matter; there are some distribution requirements for that if you want to go that route. My English-major daughter (now a junior who’s going to Oxford in January!) was accepted to both Wellesley and Smith; she initially really, really wanted to go to Wellesley but wound up going to Smith because of a STRIDE scholarship and honestly, she hasn’t looked back since. It has been absolutely fabulous for her!

Good luck, ED ladies! I’m rooting for you all. :)
