It's Not True

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst!

It's already decided now anyway...it's just a matter of finding out.

It seems like the Office of Admission is probably going to mail the letters out somewhat earlier than the 15th (though perhaps not a whole week early)...I found another article about Williams' new student information system (December 7th edition) that echoes hopes that Admissions might be able to mail out the decisions early. But of course, after that last article, I'm not sure if I trust the Williams Record anymore :-D

Excerpt from http://www.williamsrecord.com/wr/?view=article&section=news&id=6218 below...

This is the second year the Admissions Office has used PeopleSoft. In the first year, unfamiliarity with the software meant that the office was behind schedule, though they did mail decision letters on time. The point and click nature of the Web interface makes data entry a time-consuming process, so the Admissions Office worked with OIT over the summer to design a component that would directly load electronically submitted Common Applications into the PeopleSoft database.

These measures saved days of data entry time and prevented many transcription errors. This year the office may even mail its early decisions to candidates a week early. “We understand how to do PeopleSoft better this year,” Sheehy said.

Still! This is nerve-wrecking! Do you think they'll get annoyed if I call on the 15th to ask about the decisions (since I'm an int'l)? ARgggggh!

Yay~ haon says priority mail! that means it will get down here (Texas) in two days!

fluffloooz. they already made decisions, and they will not overturn them just because they are annoyed by the phone calls. I say call them =) (At worst, all they can do is say 'geez, chill out and wait!')

hopemanjkjk. True... Btw, I know this sounds stupid :P but if I call do i just blurt out, "Is it possible to know my admissions decisions?" Like that?

hahaha.. maybe explaining your circumstances might give them some sympathy. I would email though before I call

Nothing in the mail today in E. Mass...

They're not going to tell you early over the phone and they won't hold any anxious phone calls against you (even if they hadn't already made decisions, they wouldn't).

I wish they would just put the decisions online like a lot of other schools. Then we wouldn't have to be anxiously waiting by our mail boxes everyday. This is too nerve racking!

No kidding... It would be nice if they both emailed and mailed. That way, I'd for sure find out before my parents!
