Williams ED letters...

Is there a chance they were sent out Friday, Saturday or perhaps get sent out Monday? Many other schools make the ED deadline for admissions submission Nov 15th and have sent out already. Williams is 5 days earlier (Nov 10th) and it should just take same 4 weeks to pick up apps from every fifth step to say "yes." Or is it later this week...? Bueller? Anyone?

My college counsellor called and spoke with one of the admissions officers, and he said that they would mail them out by the morning of the 15th...

Yup, they mail out no later than the 15th. I get my letter Saturday!

Just saw this thread. Ignore my questions about timing on the other one.

Good luck to all of you. Be especially kind to yourselves as you wait. It is a difficult time. Thankfully, it will be over soon and, whatever happens, you will be able to go back to the action mode. I find waiting to be paralyzing.

I find the waiting to be paralyzing also. I just hope the waiting doesn't go into next week! Good Luck to one and all!

Go Back And Sit On Front Steps To Wait 24 H

I just wish Saturday would come now!

I hope they mail them out on the 14th so I can get it on Saturday and not have to wait till Monday

"by" the 15th definately could mean earlier. i hate that they are so vague, because without online decision information, some of us could have to wait until the 18th or 19th to get our letters, and if they have them in hand, why not mail them out now?

anyone know what the envelopes are like? are they all the same? or bigger for acceptances?

I don't know about early ones, but for regular decision last year the acceptance ones were in a big envelope, and it said something like "chance that this envelope means what you think it does: 100%" (you know, echoing all the random statistics on the prospectus thingamajigger)... I'm pretty sure rejects and deferrals just come in a little envelope.

They have to prepare the letters and envelopes and double- and triple-check everything. That takes time. Better to get the letter that was meant for you (but get it two days later) than to get the wrong letter (but get it faster), I guess.

If any EDers from last year are around, we all would love to hear anything else you can tell us about the ED envelopes. I had just assumed that the ED acceptances would be in the factoid envelopes (the way the RD acceptances are) but it sounds as though that might not be so.

I can already anticipate that my heart is going to be in my throat the second I hear the mail slot open -- or will we actually be stalking our poor mail carrier? I guess I better go buy cookie ingredients so that I can give him some cookies to try to make up for it if we end up jumping him!

ED acceptances come in a regular-sized (not big) envelope with one sheet of paper in it. Absolutely no way to tell if it's an acceptance from the outside.

At least, that's how it was done a few years back when I got in. I don't think it's changed since.

Grace, you are too funny!

bex, why did your letter have only one sheet? Don't you get all the "stuff" that the RD acceptees get or do you get it later? I will think it is a rejection letter if it is only one little letter. Anyway, I hope the letters come like the RD letters, those factoid things are cool.

bex56 -
Thank you. That is helpful. I guess we can't count on the outside giving the contents away. Can't decide it if that's good or bad.

Good, I think. We can stalk the mail carrier and not fall apart at the sight of the envelope!

Stalk carrier.
Get envelope.
Hand over cookies.
Run like hell. Hide between parked cars and rip open envelope.
It's a plan.

does anyone know if last year, anyone got the letter on the fifteenth (ie if they sent out any before the morning of the 15th, since they say they will send it BY then?) .. or did everyone get it the 16th or later?

I think an acceptance letter will be a little thicker than other letters.
Why? There is a reply envelope for deposit.
You can feel it if you are very sensitive.
I can't tell you whether this post is based on experience or imagination!
Hope good news for all of you!
