In the greatest of North Carolina traditions, I thought it would be fun to celbrate the last two days before the decisions by freaking out and talking about how pretty the snow is. If you're instate, freak out and talk about the fluffy white stuff, if you're OSS, take the time to make fun of us North Carolinians and get used to it should you ever get in :)

i haven’t seen any snow yettt :(

I was oos from Florida and a first year student at UNCCH in 1970s. Anyway, when we had a snow storm in Chapel Hill, we stole the plastic food trays from the cafeteria and sledded down the hills behind Morrison Dorm. It was one of my better memories from CH

Apparently, NC is supposed to get 7"-- according to my dad last time I called him. That’s more than we have up here at school!

Get your chickens!!! As I posted in another thread, I found it fascinating during my five years in Chapel Hill how when snow would be in the NC forecast, there would be these incredible runs on the grocery stores. All the milk, all the bread, and . . . all the chicken would sell out. I understood the milk and the bread, but always wondered what was behind a stockpiling of chicken. One poster explained to me that Southerners looooooove their chicken. Another poster went on to say that grocers know that, so they discount the chicken, and watch the birds fly out of their stores. Then, it would rain.

Mountains could get 10-12 inches, here in the triangle we’re expecting 3-5 or so

the line for the 6-8 inches on WRAL is like RIGHT where i live in wake county…and its snowing now, yay (:

about the chickens - harris teeter puts them on sale for like 49 cents per pound, my dad bought like 5 today hahha.

I think in the Charlotte Metro area, we’re supposed to get around 3-5 as well, but then after the snow piles up it will be all ice, and freezing rain, which mean power outages How great would it be if my power wss out on Sunday so I couldn’t check my decision.

i would hate life if that happened to me, especially since i don’t have internet on my phone! i would be walking like 2 miles down the road to my best friend’s house to check it on his phone, haha…i have been waiting my whole life for this decision, i’m not letting a little snow get in the way of it :)

My dad and I just got back from Chapel Hill, we were eating dinner on Franklin st. Suprisingly, the campus was still bustling and people were out and about despite the cold!

The triad better get at least 6 inches after all the hype we’ve had. Seriously, the grocery stores were a madhouse with all of the bread completely gone. I also saw a lone little snow plow racing around our neighborhood before it even started snowing, hahah. So far we have about three inches, but it’s supposed to snow until late tomorrow night.

Now, go ahead and laugh at my pathetic town all you Northerners :)

Yeah today my mom was talking to the guy delivering the bread, and he said he’d already made 3 trips by noon! Talk about craziness!

The line at Ace Hardware for sleds was about 200 people. They got an order of 38. My friend’s mom, who has young children, walked to the front of the line and offered the first person $30 if they would buy two more sleds for her. Hahahahaha.

I’m in a little town about 45 minutes NE of Chapel Hill, no snow here yet. :(

I am hoping to get to make snowcream!

really? I live 45 minutes east of raleigh. I would’ve thought you’d get snow before us and it’s been snowing here for about an hr

Nothing so far, it is really weird. Everyone around me is getting snow but we’re not. It’s like the bermuda triangle of NC, lol.

I live on the coast at Jacksonville and it’s raining. Of course…we never get any snow. There’d be a state of emergency or something.

^ You can keep the rain / freezing rain. Snow won’t cut out the power.

oh haha. That’s just wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. The last time we had snow was this time last year lol.

i live just south of raleigh and everything is already covered!
