IU Early Action Acceptances - Class of 2025

Things may become more negotiable if they aren’t hitting their yield, and commitment day is looming. I don’t know too many people who were successful at getting more merit, but I know some. It is worth the ask if that is where your son really wants to go. The worst they can do is say no.

No askie, no gettie.

I’ve also read that schools will add aid at FA time. That seem to happen last spring, and I imagine since COVID is still will us, it will happen again.

IU spent an absurd amount of money to contain COVID. A non-endowed scholarship program is an easy thing to cut funding for if their goal is to save money.

I was almost certain that I would receive the full $8,000 amount for in-state Provost scholarship based on my friends’ stats at IU but I did not.

I did email the scholarship office a while back, and I confirmed with them that there will be a “reevaluation” of scholarship amounts at that point. Apparently no one will receive the maximum amount until the spring.

what is “FA time”? when do think they would notify regarding additional aid amount?

Financial Aid

Did anyone apply 10/31 and have you received your decision yet?

Son did and he checked portal on Tuesday (12/1) and was accepted. I hear that it isn’t FIFO though, especially for those who filed the last day. I’m sure they got a bunch 10/31.

Still waiting for a decision (in-state).Portal indicates application complete on 10/18.

Hi! My D21 applied 10/28 and is “patiently” waiting too. What major for your kid? @mom2SS

I understand that asking feels awkward but it helps and the SSA is where the brunt of the scholarships are. His merit scholarship is just what the school can afford to take off his bill and during a pandemic this is low, but the SSA is all of the scholarships that have been funded by donors/benefactors and can only be spent on student scholarships anyway. Also if it’s his top choice try to talk him in to emailing the IU financial aid department and telling them that he needs more money (they really do tell the school within the college reviewing the SSA to give priority if you show financial need as well as give priority for OEM scholarships). I did it prior to my first semester (class of 2023) and have since gone from a 3,000 dollar merit scholarship to almost 20,000 in scholarships. If he’s willing to do it, it should help.

My daughter received her acceptance last week. Her stats are below:
Applied 10/15, Accepted 11/26 (A&S), OOS (IL), 3.8 UW, 4.07 W, 31 ACT, Good ECs with many that support her chosen major

Did your daughter receive the scholarship info in an e-mail or hard copy in the mail? From this post, some students are receiving merit aid and some are not with similar grades and test scores…

She got an email today morning

Thank you and congratulations!
