I've decided to let it go.

Hi, I'm from the Cornell ED forum and I want to share this with you.

Like me, I'm sure you guys who applied ED to Princeton are constantly coming to CC forum like every 3 seconds to check on updates! But doesn't that make you even more nervous? lol
I must say, doing that made me even more nervous and anxious about the Cornell ED decision.

But, today (sunday here), as a Christian, I went to church and listened to a great sermon that actually related to us rite now in terms of getting accepted to a college and such....

and this is what i learned today...

I believe that there is a purpose in life. That purpose is, of course, different for everyone. However, whatever that may be, i just want everyone to know that "God" has a special plan for each every one of you. If you get accepted to Princeton, then Princeton was part of that huge plan. If you get rejected, then there is a greater plan for you waiting right in front of you. Things such as getting accepted/rejected to a college is something we cannot change because you dont know what really goes on in the admission committee.

When I heard this, I became not that nervous about this process anymore because I realized that this decision is merely a small part of the entire life.

I hope you feel a little relieved after reading this message. I know that you'll still be nervous but no matter the result, know that you are still "you."

o ya.. p.s) i don't want anybody to be offended by this post 'cuz you are not a christian or whatever... but I believe that every one of us has been given a special path of their own :)

lol ill amen to that, brotha

I am offended as someone who believes in Self Determination!

word. romans 8:28

agaetisbyrjun- amen to that verse.

Ok I was just being silly before, but the reference to Romans 8:28 does tick me off. Its basically saying God works only for those that believe in him, and considering the source, that puts the "God" as the Christian one. There are many, many good examples of why not to worry in secular or even other Christian sources, but you picked that one?

what about that? it means that even if we get rejected from certain colleges, things will still work out for us. we are each bound to go in different directions, one not necessarily better/worse than another.

I wasn't objecting to the initial post, just the reference to Romans 8:28. Nothing wrong with the initial post.

And here's a good reason not to worry: http://www.phobe.com/s_cat/kitnext.html

arbiter- ya i can see why that verse can tick you off.. i understand..

but i just think that even if u are relious, secular, non-believers in christianity or whatever,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, He still has a purpose of why you are here... i mean ,, why Are you here on Earth? lol

this thread is really getting religious.......it shouldn't be.... but no reason to be offended here..

Thx, jae6, for taking time to visit all these nervous soon-to-be (hopefully....) Princetonians and sharing your church's sermon...
I actually just had very similar sermon on last THursday morning (we have daily morning prayer for two weeks).
He talked about how we try to do everything on our own without trusting God, giving example of swimming.
When he tried SO hard to exert every strength with his tensed up body, he kept sinking into water but when he actually let go of his strength and yielded himself to the buoyancy of water, he was able to float and swim through the current.
Well, I know I am still very very anxious but.. I hope by letting go some parts that we have NO control over (after sending apps that is), we will be able to find peace and reach to whatever destination is the BEST for us.

Thanks for taking initiative to incorporate such message to relieve us!
