okay so i posted a thread inquiring about the study habits of those of you who received top scores on the SAT. now please answer this question honestly, if you don't mind.

had you chosen not to study for the SAT, what score do you think would you have gotten?

I’m going to take it for the first time May 1st. No studying, I would probably get a hair north of 2000, maybe touch 2100 if I was lucky. With the studying I’m doing now, I’m shooting for near-perfect (2300+), and it’s not unreasonable for me either I don’t believe.

hard to even compare to the last 3 posters, but I’ll proceed anyway.
My first tests were really low. I just didn’t know how to take the test. I was scoring 1700’s.
I’m taking it this Saturday, and I’m hoping to hit 2100. Tutoring and studying really makes the difference.

Math has been naturally 800.
Writing multiple choice is ridiculously easy for me. 760
Critical Reading I had problems with. If I spent hours practicing that and memorizing vocab lists my score increase would probably be trivial and it would not be worth the time I would be taking away from SAT Subject Test and AP exam studying.

I have not taken the SAT’s yet, but I will be very soon. I think the one thing to study is how to write/format the essay. Otherwise, i think it is all about making sure you are always adding to your vocabulary. This will help the most…

I’d probably have scored 2200-2300. I don’t feel that studying really helped me personally that much, except maybe cut down 1-2 silly errors I tended to make.

I did the SAT twice. First time no prep was a 2240, and the second time I did a practice test once to familiarize myself and I got a 2390. So I’m not quite sure what that says about the test itself…
