<p>SA -- D has found in high school that there were required courses she unexpectedly loved which she would not have enrolled in left to her own "druthers" and has concluded that some structure will force her to continue this "broadening of interest process". It works for her. I find you get to know your children in a different light watching, and helping, them go through this sorting process.....

<p>I second this. Requirements forced me to take courses I otherwise would never have taken, and ended up enjoying. Being forced outside your comfort zone is a healthy and rewarding challenge.</p>
