I am a white male who goes to a pretty prestigious private school in NYC. My unweighted gpa is around a 3.8. On the sat i have taken so far I received a 2200(800cr, 720 wr, 680 m). I am retaking it in march to raise both my math and writing scores hopefully to result in a 2300. I have taken the biology sat 2 and ap test, and received an 800 and a 5 respectively. I am currently enrolled in the equivalent of ap chemistry at my school(they were recently removed). I am in honors math and have been for my entire academic career. I have been playing the viola(note, not violin) since fourth grade and I take private lessons as well as have played in the school orchestra since 8th grade. I have fenced saber since 9th grade, varsity sophomore-senior. I am about to start fencing at a club. I have also done varsity ultimate frisbee every year. In addition to this I researched the summer after sophomore year and expect to this summer. I went to the AJAS national science conference and presented my research. I have also been in model un since sophomore year. Taking all of this information, do I have a decent chance at the Ivy League schools? Thanks

Yea sure why not.

You are an average candidate. Not saying you don’t have a shot because you do have some unique attributes (fencing, national science conference). How many honors/AP classes have you taken? That is very important to ivy leagues. If you are so desperate to get into an ivy league, I suggest applying ED to your favorite. Best of luck!

My school had done away with ap’s so we only have honors classes and equivalents of ap. I’ve taken bio, chem history and French at these levels. I have been in the French honors track since 9th grade, I am currently in “French 5”. By the end of senior year I will have taken ap physics and ap calculus. Thanks again
