I believe Princeton requires SAT2s before the pre read (some schools did, others did not). Maybe that is the cause of the confusion? Maybe they need the SAT2 scores before they can formalize anything?

Ok. Coach Surace is emailing him I just learned so I will have him ask about that. He is registered for the SAT 2 next month. Thanks for the help.

Sure. Not sure how much help I can be, but feel free to message me if you would like

Hello @ohiodad51. Any update? Did you son get the LL yet?

Hello, sorry it took me so long to respond, but occasionally work intrudes. As of today, he has not received his letter.
It appears that Princeton admissions does all the reviews of early signing sports before they review the Football applications.

While my son has been getting regular contact from Coach Surace, I must say this last month has been very frustrating. However, as of last Friday, we learned that admissions had âstarted workingâ on the football applications, so hopefully it will come in the next week or so. According to Coach Surace, once admissions passes on the likely letter, they will permit a âcross overâ of the application to EA.

Another thing I learned is that Princeton apparently does not use a committee for likely letters. Rather each application is reviewed by a designated admissions rep, who makes a recommendation to the admissions director. Apparently the admissions director then reviews each application. It has really been frustrating, although it is now clear why the coach told my son to apply RD, since the reviews did not even start until after the EA deadline passed.

Ohiodad, have you heard anything yet?

Did your son get admitted EA, or at least get a likely letter?

Yep, he is done. On to fighting senioritis and getting ready for next year!

Congratulations and welcome to the team. The experience has far exceeded our expectations in our sonâs first two years. I hope to meet you and your family next year. Make sure you come to the parentâs tailgate and introduce yourself.

Hello @ohiodad51: thanks for the update. Iâm a little unclear: did your son apply RD and then was transferred to EA after the LL was issued? Or was the LL issued as a RD applicant?
Thanks for your post!
Likely letter and regular decision pool. As an additional data point, he just got his tentative FA award, and it is slightly better than the pre read this summer (10-15%)
@ohiodad51: thanks so much. One last question: do you mind sharing the date the LL was issued? This may help future families estimate timing, etc.
Best of luck in the fall. Princeton is a wonderful campus, especially during the fall football season!
I donât remember the actual dates off hand. He got the actual letter in early December.
Just to finish this thread, formal admission decision came today along with the financial aid award. The financial aid award was fifty dollars better than the last pre read, God knows why, but I will take it.
