Ivy League Acceptance

If I received a B in math second semester as a Sophomore how does that effect me getting into an Ivy League. My gpa is a 4.65 weight and a 3.95 unweighted. I also have been rowing for 2 years and plan to row in college. I do a pretty good amount of volunteer and participate in a lot of elite government clubs at my school. And what should I try to aim for on my ACT?

Do you think everyone admitted to an Ivy League college has all A’s?

I was just wondering the effects it would have.

While having straight A does not get you in Ivies either.

Don’t worry about the B, it won’t affect you at all. You UW GPA is great!

For the ACT, aim for 30s- especially upper 30s- and you’ll be alright.

It won’t affect you much, especially if it is a harder class than the one most of your peers are in. For the ACT, aim for a 33+.

Colleges don’t really care about grades that meticulously. It probably seems like it to you since you’re only sophomore and up to this point your grades are the only stats you have accumulated. You’re gonna need a 33+ to even be considered for Ivies.

Get your scores up to like a 34-36 range, then you will be really competitive for ivies. But the thing with ivies are you cannot predict the results very well. Because they take a lot of things into consideration, Also, try throwing in some targets and matches (If you haven’t) Good Luck Man!

Try to aim for above 34 on your ACT to be competitive. Your rowing may help you if you are REALLY good (you may be recruited) but to facilitate this process I suggest you contact the sports/rowing advisors at the Ivies and ask them what you should do to get recruited. Try taking some subject tests too!

Rowing is a great sport to get recruited in! I know someone in my school who contacted coaches and went to Stanford for rowing. Maybe you should spend less time worrying about a meaningless B on college confidential and start contacting coaches. That would be productive.
