How would you rank the ivies by their generosity with financial assistance? Personally, I would expect Harvard to be somewhere at the top, but what’s your opinion?
If you are interested in your won situation, run your financials through the net proce calculators on each Ivy website.
I would say, Harvard, Yale and Princeton are likely most generous. They award aid to families with incomes above $150,000 a year. Dartmouth has a policy for lower income students which covers tuition if incime is below a certain amount.
All the Ivies guarantee to meet full need as they calculate it to be. So in that regard, they are all generous.
ETA…the thing you need to consoder first is the %age of applicants accepted by these schools. It’s about 5% to 12%, meaning the vast majority of applicants don’t get accepted. The generous financial aid doesn’t do you any good unless you get accepted, and that is not a slam dunk for anyone. So…hurdle number one is acceptance.
Which school did you get accepted to, @Maryleanne? Run the Net Price Calculator on their website to get an idea of how much you’ll have to pay.
You indicated elsewhere you are on free lunch. For income super low, they all give generous full packages with no loans. You will likely have some work/study and perhaps some summer earnings. Run the NPC for the ones you are interested in.
@austinmshauri I got into Yale, and they basically gave me a full ride, excluding the work study plan
Congratulations, @Maryleanne. What a wonderful opportunity!
