My mom makes 12K a year with 3 kids so paying anything is not an option. Is upenn and Princeton pretty good?
The Ivies are good for financial aid. But you have to be pretty extraordinary to get in. On your other post you say that you are a high school freshman. Way too early for this. Just do your best in high school.
If you are a HS freshman, you need to concentrate on getting the best possible grades, and eventually the best possible SAT or ACT scores.
The Ivies give excellent aid to low income students. You mention your mom’s income. What about your dad? Unless he is no longer alive…or maybe in prison, the Ivies will also want his financial information.
There can be quite a difference in financial aid even among the Ivies. In general, Harvard, Princeton and Yale give the best aid, but it can differ case-by-base as they have slightly different formulas. I know one student whose grant amount between Harvard and Brown was over $30,000 per year.
Not for a student eligible for Pell grant. They all are very generous in this income range.
