Ivy League Recruited Athletes

Agreed fenwaypark. I would stipulate that there are individual players in the Ivy that had both the opportunity and the necessary skill to play in the conferences you mention but made a choice to pursue Ivy athletics instead. However in general terms, I think you are absolutely correct.

When you really take time to think about it, it’s amazing that Ivy athletics are as good as they are given the admissions barriers. It’s a truly special kid that is that talented on the field/court and in the classroom. Congrats to all that have one or more that fit that description in the family.

It is amazing how good Ivy athletics are, given the highly reduced pool of academically qualified athletes. Probably 90% of high school athletes don’t have the AI to get through admissions (and it’s even harder in NESCAC, which gives very little academic slack to most of their recruited athletes). To balance the time needed to get the GPA, rigor and SAT/ACT, and still be a very high level athlete, is statistically a very rare kid.
