There is a lot of talk of the stereotypes of the ivies. I just wanted to start a thread where all of them are discuss. Facts are preferable to opinions. For exampe, it has been mentioned that Cornell is the easiest ivy to get into, but the hardest once you are in. And Harvard is just the opposite. So...all those kinds of stereotypes, I am interested in. Thanks.

There are a lot of threads like this so you can get some ideas by using the search tool above^

I'd rather like to see stereotypes that aren't true ... like that everyone who attends an Ivy League school is snobbish. That sort of thing.

MIT is not ivy league, but many people think the school is full of nerds. My bro went there and i visited him a couple times. Most students there are far from the "nerd" label. They play many sports, enjoy partying, and just chilllaxing in general. They are more play hard, study hard type. The drinking scene is quite prevalent too in some areas. Now don't get me wrong, there are engineer majors who study like hell and don't take showers, but the school is quite diverse and you'll find all types of people.

Officially, if anyone tells you "The hardest thing is to get in! then it's a breeze!!!" they are dead wrong. My harvard friend agrees.

Columbia College is the hardest to get into if you go by percentage.

^why is that? that sucks for me lol

^I heard that too at the Columbia convocation. Apparently CC has a 5.6%admit rate while SEAS has like 18% or something much much higher.

I find it curious that the OP said he wanted facts over opinions and then by way of example he offers a stereotype that is very much an opinion. Be that as it may, I do think that once you’re at Harvard they want you to graduate and almost all of their students do. That doesn’t mean it is easy. If you go to Harvard to get an education then you will work very hard and you will get a first rate education. If you go to Harvard with the intention of skating through then you will probably get away with that but so what? You will have wasted an extraordinary opportunity.

Old thread, with mistaken revival. Locked.
