GPA: 4.6ish maybe? But GPA isn’t the most relevant measure in our school because it’s weighted unfairly against those involved in music
EC (scale of 1-5, 5 being most significant): 3-4? I’m not sure what this means, but I did a lot of music/science stuff in a fairly focused manner, so…
Ethnicity/Gender: Asian/F
State or Country (if international): East Coast

Comments: I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENED! =D I feel honored and lucky to have fared so well in the admissions process! I cried when I logged onto Princeton and Harvard’s admitted students’ websites. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to this, but I hope everyone ends up happy! =)

One thing I noticed… This year, UPenn’s acceptance rate is significantly higher than other Ivies, in particular the three where I was accepted (more than double Harvard?!). And it was also the only school where I was rejected (and I applied to Arts and Sciences, not Wharton). Many of my friends who were accepted by more selective schools like Princeton, Harvard, Yale, MIT, etc. were also rejected or waitlisted by UPenn. I hate to say this, but it seems to me like UPenn may be trying to maximize yield? Don’t get me wrong, I was honestly GLAD to be rejected, since I wouldn’t have considered it over Columbia, Princeton, or Harvard, and the spot I would have taken is going immediately to someone who probably wants it more, rather than leaving some poor waitlistee anxious for months, but still… it seems weird.

Just got on and found this since the servers went down last night. I modified the title and am moving it to the Admissions forum so that more people will see it. I will leave a redirect for a week.

Comments: Whatever. This sucks. I probably should have studied for my subject tests and the SAT and actually focused on school instead of doing other academic stuff. Every single kid in my school district that applied to HY got rejected by HY so, whatever.

Comments: I’m pretty disappointed and surprised that I was not accepted to any of the Ivy League schools. Duke was definitely not my top choice, but I guess I’ll take what I can get. Congratulations to all of you who are going to your dream schools! I know you deserve it ^___^
