Ivy

What’s the easiet Ivy League to get into for an international student intending to major in poli sci / IR ?

There is no “easiest” way for anybody.

One could say that Cornell is the least extremely difficult to get into.

It is a good habit to do some research on your own before asking a question on CC. You can easily look up the acceptance rates and majors offered by each Ivy League college on your own.

The idea that you don’t have a preference among the Ivy League schools also indicates that you might not have done sufficient research. For example, most people who like the more rural setting of a school like Dartmouth would not be equally interested in an urban school such as Penn or Columbia, most people who like the idea of the open curriculum at Brown are not interested in the large core that Columbia requires etc.

What makes you think I haven’t done that? Asking people about their knowledge and opinions helps a lot in this matter, and is very sufficient.

he probably has done plenty of research and rightly asking whats the easiest if his goal to simply obtain a brand name education which like many things in this world is important - brands are ruling the world now and the question is spot on, “how does one maximize the chance of getting into top school” - i met plenty of people who said they could care less about harvard or dartmouth or cornell as long as they get into one of these…

unfortunately, there is no easy answer on this - depends on country you are from and number of students applying from this particular country at each top school, depends on your unique skill set and background (brown may want to have top math kid with IMO medal this year or dartmouth needs another football player, harvard may favour students from middle east this year …

imo, UC GPA of 3.25 / “B+ grades” + International = ‘Ivy’ is not going to happen unless there is something else really startling about you that you haven’t mentioned on your other threads.

That sounds so harsh- I am sorry. But I don’t think that that particular set of schools is going to happen for you.

And I can see why someone would want to attend elite schools, but just focusing on “Ivies” does show a lack of research.

I absolutely get where you guys are coming from, but I guess you never know unless you try so I’ll take my chances and apply to the 1 I like the most and even if it’s most likely a rejection I’ll still be pleased that I tried. Thanks a lot for the help, it’s very much appreciated!!

thats right you gotta try
